Knowing how to get over an ex does not come naturally to most people. It definitely didn’t for me. Whether it’s your ex boyfriend, girlfriend, husband or wife it is never easy. The right advice can go a long way, however when you have been dumped you can find that people give you too much advice, leaving you feeling overwhelmed. I know this is what happened to me anyway. When my husband left me it was incredibly painful, I never thought I would find out how to get over an ex.
The thing is though, I did eventually get over him. I learnt a lot along the way, every difficult experience that we go through helps us to be stronger people. Now that I have made it through to the other side and have pieced my life back together, I want to share what I have learnt about how to get over an ex with other people.
The biggest hurdle for me was that I was still in love with my ex husband. It was him who wanted us to end things, not me. Of course, I loved him for a long time and still have a place in my heart for him. However, the last thing I would want now is to be back with him.

For a while I used to jump to take his calls and think of any excuse to meet him, but after a while I realized that this was only doing me harm. I also started avoiding mutual friends, instead I started hanging out with my older friends and even made an effort to meet some new ones.

Although I never sent them, I would write long letters to my husband telling him exactly what I thought of him. It really helped me to get things off my chest. I also started keeping a journal which helped too.

It was a relief to know I was not alone in the way I was feeling. It also was beneficial to read about the many mistakes people make in relationships that cause them to break up.
These are the things I found that helped on the way to knowing how to get over an ex. I hope that they can help you too. These days I’m happy and healthy. My life is back on track and I can safely say I have put my ex behind me.
